While many people come to Ouray for the beauty and the adventure, there are other cities in the area that offer equally impressive opportunity for excitement. Here are a few of them. TellurideTelluride is home to the Telluride Ski Resort, and in the summer there are numerous weekend festifals such as Telluride Film Festival, which hosted the premieres of such notable films as Sling Blade, Amelie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and many others. It is also home to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival which has featured such artists as Joan Osborne, The Neville Brothers, Allman Brothers Band, and Joe Cocker. DurangoDurango, a city surrounded by mountains, is home of the Animas River, and is famous for its fishing, rafting, golfing, hunting, rock climbing, and kayaking. Additionally, it is home to Hermosa Creek Trail, which is one of the most popular single-track trails in the city of Durango. This 20 mile ride from Purgatory to Hermosa is one that you'll remember, with not only technical sections and steep climbs, but also two waist-high river crossings.
